Joanne Ehret
I use watercolor, acrylics, graphite, ink, collage and clay to reflect my love of nature and fascination with the human psyche, express my emotions through abstraction, and speak my heart on issues of social justice for animals and people.
By trade, I have been a practitioner of Chinese Medicine for 30 years in western Massachusetts. Since 2000, I have also been immersed in art. I began painting after studying with watercolor teacher Ann Lindsay, who encouraged pure play with color. Brooke Schnabel's guidance gave me a love for painting and drawing the figure. Judith Abraham has offered her great skills in figure sculpture. Mel Stabin, Susan Halls and Gerald Brommer have been inspiring influences.
I make art to explore my connection to the mystery of form, color, and life, for my own joy and pleasure. A work may come from a fantasy, grief, pain, or awe. Sometimes I wonder where a work comes from, how it emerged. Each work teaches me and I respect each one. I would like to share all of this with you.
In the menu, both "Figures" and "Series" have drop-down menus. Please explore these sub-headings. Most of the "Series" works are watercolor collages.
If you have any questions, including dimensions of black and white figure and portrait works, please contact me through the contact page. Most works are available for sale.
